Poff & Weber LLC Home Page
Poff & Weber, located in Hawthorne, New Jersey, is an attorney and law firm that has received mixed reviews from clients. While some reviews highlight their knowledge and hardworking nature, many others express significant frustration with the firm’s communication and handling of real estate transactions. Overall, it seems that while there are positive experiences reported, the negative feedback suggests a need for improvement in client interactions and efficiency.
We had to deal with Poff on a real estate transaction. We were the buyers and he was the sellers’ attorney. Every single person who had to interact with him throughout our transaction told us essentially the same thing, “Poff should not be an attorney” (our attorney, our realtor, the sellers’ realtor, etc.). He dragged out everything. The sellers’ realtor frequently apologized for his behavior. Attorney review took THREE WEEKS only for them to accept what was essentially the first draft. He asked for unreasonable things like changing EPA standards for radon testing. He asked to personally see proof of funds in an amount he determined (which was not money enough to close) even though we had pre-approval that showed we did have the funds. He might as well have asked to see that we had five dollars. Additionally, he held onto our deposit check for almost two weeks without depositing because it was not written to the correct account holder. He did not notify us until our paralegal asked his office about it. He did, instead, send a nasty letter accusing us of not sending the deposit check in time per our contract (because he had not deposited the check). Lastly, he refused to inform us of our closing date. When the closing date indicated in the contract had passed – not even a courtesy email to update us and let us know we were not closing on the date. In fact, no notice of when closing date might be, ever. Incompetence at its greatest. Proof that if you are a below-mediocre white man, you can thrive in the age of Trump.
Knowledgeable and hardworking. Great experience.
