If Maureen “Mike” Cooper is assigned as a guardian ad litem to your case do everything you can to get her removed. My understanding of the law is that a guardian ad litem is supposed to be unbiased and actually look at both sides while taking into account the best interest of the children. Ms. Cooper absolutely does NOT do that. She felt that she knew what was going on in my case when in fact she really had no idea. She took the word of the defendant’s attorney because she is “friends” with her. She never came to my home. She talked to me on the phone once for about 10 minutes and then proceeded in court to tell me what I needed to do for my grandchildren. She had absolutely no idea how involved I was in the raising of my grandchildren and didn’t care to find out. She was unprofessional and did not take into account the best interest of the children.
