Steed Debra L is a General Practice Attorney based in Parkersburg, West Virginia, known for her work in family law and custody cases. While some reviews highlight concerns about communication and preparedness, others praise her for being kind, courteous, and respectful, with a genuine commitment to the welfare of children. Many clients appreciate her ability to handle sensitive subjects with compassion and empathy, making her a recommended choice for those seeking legal assistance in challenging family matters.
Had her as my daughter’s guardian ad litem. My daughter’s father was making claims citing it was “her” orders and when I called to discuss it with her, she threatened to have our daughter taken away and put in foster care if we didn’t want to “get along”. Our daughter was being neither mistreated, nor abused by either of us. To the contrary, she is very much adored by every member of both sides of the family, so that threat was completely out of line and an abuse of the power given to her by the court. My daughter is also autistic and threatening to yank her from not one, but two parents who love her would have been disastrous for her both physically and emotionally and honestly it would have been a form of child abuse to traumatize her out of spite. Period. Also want to add that I was still healing from surgery from colon cancer, so thank you so much for the unnecessary stress ma’am. I heard you made family court, hopefully your tenure is as short as your temper, empathy, and basic human decency. All of which are sorely lacking
Chronically unprepared, went into a case with a fundamental misunderstanding of what the case was even about, still didn’t have vital information correct even after being corrected/informed, bailed out of a call *that she initiated* because she “was busy,” notably quick-tempered, was not interested in anything our kids had to say even in response to questions she asked, and all-around just an unpleasant individual. And now she’s running for Family Court.
She was very unprepared. Had no idea what my case was about even though we had been appointed her. She lied to me to try to keep me passive so that the court could rule and did not do what was best for us. Hung up on me when I called her and she answered. Literally won’t return calls or emails at all hardly even emails. Court appointed means you get to be represented. She has not done so. If the judge gives you her I’d say you better write a letter or call the judge and ask for another attorney!!
