I worked with Karen Moore as my attorney for a wage claim case. After being laid off in early 2025, in the middle of economic and political chaos, I was overwhelmed with scrambling to figure out how I was going to live–pay rent, buy groceries, file unemployment, find a new job–it was an indescribably stressful time for me. My employer withheld my final wages for almost three weeks, and when I tried to file a claim with BOLI (Bureau of Labor & Industry, the government entity that is supposed to hold employers accountable for illegal actions like this) I found out that they’re not taking wage claims over a certain threshold, and even if they do, it’s at least six months until they’ll look at your case.
