Island Defense in Coupeville, Washington, is a Criminal Justice Attorney service that has received mixed reviews from clients. While some appreciate the friendly and knowledgeable staff, highlighting the genuine efforts of certain public defenders, others express frustration with the appointment-only policy and communication issues. Overall, the positive feedback emphasizes the well-trained and cordial nature of some employees, as well as their commitment to client care, despite the challenges faced by the office.
Matt Montoya is absolutely horrific and incompetent. I feel sorry for anyone unfairly charged with a crime in Island County. The Judge, prosecutor and the lamest public defender in history awaits you in the gates of hell
Really good defense
Went there to meet with my attorney this morning, didn’t know I needed an appointment, as there’s no alert on here, and nothing on the website, nothing on the building, so I get there at about 8:55 this morning, 5 minutes before they’re supposedly “open”. I watch three employees right at 9, go in, lock the door behind them, and leave the closed sign on closed. Then, about ten minutes later, another employee walks in, and locks the door behind them. I stand outside patiently in the cold wind, for 40 minutes, before someone comes to the door and asks if I have an appointment, asks for my name, and says give them a call later and set an appointment, because they’re appointment only at the moment. I ask if there’s anyway I can get in because I took a day off to come up and talk to somebody about my case, and how I’m already missing out on a days wage by coming up here, and I have to take another day off next Wednesday for court, and I really can’t afford to take any more days off than I already have to. and of course I was denied. Kind of expected that, but still, my thing is, there should be an alert on here, saying they’re appt only, and there should be a notice on their website as well as their door on their building that they are appt only, instead of just having the “closed” side of the sign showing.
