William Sykes Law | William Sykes Law
Sykes William G, an attorney based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, has received mixed reviews from clients regarding his services. While some clients appreciate his reasonable fees and responsiveness compared to other attorneys, others have expressed disappointment with the level of support during the patent process, highlighting a lack of communication and thoroughness. Overall, those who have worked with him for an extended period find the experience relatively smooth, appreciating his helpful nature and dedication to the process.
Ive been working with Mr Sykes for about two years and the process has went pretty smoothly. It takes FOREVER when dealing with the USPTO and what he charges is very reasonable. He is helpful and easy to seal with and far more responsive to the other attorney I had in Pennsylvania who basically took my money and made me do all the let work.
I went to Mr. Sykes to start the patent process with great expectations only to be let down. Mr. Sykes charged me 750 dollars to do a patent search which he out sourced to a third party. When the search results came in a week or two later Mr. Sykes asked me if I thought any of the patents were similar and if I would be able to file. I do not have a law degree nor am I a patent attorney so I did the best I could at finding the patents in question that were similar to mine. (any experienced patent attorney should be able to do this for you) I sent him an email back with the patents in question and gave him a week to get back to me on the decision of whether or not I should file a provisional patent. I did not get a response so I emailed him and he replied that he needed a few more days to look at the patents that came up in the search and he had another person looking at the patents to help him( I have no idea who this other person was and I did not have this other person sign a non disclosure agreement so I was not happy about that). I waited another week and emailed him with no response I called him multiple times since then and to this day have not received a response from him. I went to another patent attorney to find out that the patent in question similar to mine was actually a patent application and it had never even been approved! You would think a patent attorney would be able to pick up on that right away but apparently he thought it was a filed patent and I think he ignored my response because he assumed the application was so similar to mine that I wouldn’t want to file and maybe it was a waste of his time.
