Read your retainer throughly, I didn’t and ended up paying 3k only to be advised to agree to a plea of a no contact order for one year even though all of the accusations made against me were total lies. I went along with it but deeply regret not fighting it. The 3k got used on the plea deal it’s a flat rate so I wheather she made a couple phone calls or represented you in court it’s the same price. I was a fool and thought a retainer was there to be used as needed. Of course they want me to settle it’s there’s hardly any work involved. I did not feel I was given the opportunity to fight completely false charges. There was no truth and I had proof of innocence. If I had realized there were “flat” fees I never would have gone this route. . If you have never hired a lawyer, get counsel before you do and decide what outcome you can live with, mine has been a nightmare.
