It is unethical to hide a conflict of interest when representing a party in a legal action. When representing my ex, he was dismissed by the court when I, the opposing party who was not a lawyer and had no legal training nor lawyer to represent me, brought the conflict to the court’s attention. In law school, students are required to take a course of professional responsibility. As a lawyer, you swear an oath. These are facts. I don’t recommend him because he either chose to be unethical or he lacks the ability to retain information that is drilled into the head of every single law student. This is my experience. If you want to retain him that’s your right. Just be aware of his history. I will gladly provide evidence to substantiate what I experienced in court. I cannot attest to what classes he took in school or why he failed to disclose something so glaringly apparent. Maybe that was his strategy to get out of representing the ex. If so, it was genius. It was also ethically wrong. Retain him if you choose. I will stick with lawyers who understand the necessity of disclosure. I’d recommend many of the ex’s other attorneys, even the ones that prevailed against me because they handled themselves in a professional and ethical manner. All of those attorneys requested the court dismiss them so they no longer had to represent the ex. I will recommend them all day long.
