Catherine Benouis and her paralegal, Kojo, provided sound, professional, and ultimately life-changing guidance during my recent divorce. My ex-husband and I had begun the process without representation with the goal of navigating it collaboratively, but when that started to go very poorly, I reached out to Benouis Law and Catherine became a much-needed buffer between myself and my ex and his lawyer. She was supportive of the emotional toll of the divorce process, explained to me in detail what my rights were as a stay-at-home-mother who had put her career on hold to support her family and husband’s career, and was available to answer questions that frequently arose. She worked with me, advocated for me, and ultimately facilitated a divorce that both I and my ex-husband were “happy with”.
I was dealing with some pretty serious civil litigation in Washington State involving my child’s mother. During this the worst happened and she fled to Texas with our child in common. I contacted Catherine’s office and put her on retainer immediately. Catherine and Kojo diligently worked to formulate a strategy. We learned that the opposing party submitted a CPO in the state of Texas, Catherine and Kojo pushed everything off to the side to deal with this. They missed birthday parties, worked through weekends, and even travelled with me all the way to Mclennan County to help ensure my child was safe. I could not have worked with a better team who remained empathetic, and professional through this entire process. Not many lawyer offices have conducted a writ of habeas corpus, it seems to be a rarity in family law. Catherine and Kojo were able to navigate it with ease. I highly recommend Benouis Law!
This is the first bad review I write. In this case I was prompted to write a negative review due to the desperate circumstances. My brother is going through a terrible child custody battle and we need to hire a “pitbull” lawyer, I did a lot of research to finally chose someone. This attorney has good reviews so I called and left a message for someone to call me back to schedule an appointment. It is now 1 week later and I still have not heard back from the anyone to schedule an appointment. If I can’t get a call back to get an appointment, I have to logically assume I will not receive adequate assistance with the case if I were to hire her. Disappointing.
