He’s very condescending. He acts like he doesn’t ever have time to hear your concerns. And once he’s dealt with you he doesn’t want further business. If my case wasn’t urgent and I had half the legal knowledge I have now I would’ve went pro se. I could’ve had the same results. I tried very hard to see the bright side each time I met with him. However I just left more nervous and unsure after each visit.

Very disappointed and hurt by how I was treated. Mr. Hughes talked down on me frequently and never gave me a chance to speak. I did obtain him through the South Carolina legal services therefore I did not have to pay him however I feel that this made a great difference on how I was treated. It’s very hurtful to feel that the system is working against you but an even worse feeling when your lawyer does the same. Mr. Hughes quit because I told him I did not understand how there wasn’t anything that I could do when the other party continuously made moves and different motions to have things work in their favor. The day after he quit and I looked at my court files and noticed that it did not even have the fact that he was my lawyer on file. Therefore I honestly believe that he did not do his very best to represent me nor did he try to. I hope that this review is helpful for not only those seeking him but also for those seeking help through South Carolina legal services as this may be the attorney that you are appointed to. I really hate that I even have to leave a review like this however I do believe that when we do not speak out about how we are treated badly when things like this happen it just gives another opportunity for someone else to be hurt in these situations.
