I went to the office to discuss a possible case, I carried my medical records with me and 5 or 6 months later there has been no calls, emails, no contract none.
I completely regret retaining Mr. Welborn as my attorney with this firm. The day that I signed the paperwork, I felt pushed or pressured by his paralegal,Kim, to sign. This was actually a sign from the Lord God not to commit to anything. When you are being rushed to make a decision hastily, you should NEVER give in. I was totally dissatisfied with his lack of service. He appeared very unprofessional, inconsistent, slothful, and always negative or unreasonable. He was supposed to handled a workers’ compensation case for me. However, most of the time when I would call to inquire about my case; he would hurry me off the phone. There were issues such as incomplete documents submitted by my former employer and Mr. Welborn failed to make new requests to obtain my complete personnel file. My case kept dragging out, and he would say, “I think that they are getting ready to settle.” Moreover, that didn’t happen and a hearing was set for 06/2021. Oftentimes, I felt as though Mr. Welborn was working against me and siding with the opposing attorney. The day of the hearing, Kim was on the phone with me making sure that I had accurate directions and that I arrive on time. Furthermore, before the hearing was over, she emailed me and stated that I didn’t need to contact her anymore but Mr. Welborn only. This may have been a legal formaIity but I thought that the response was unnecessary and wicked. As I was sitting beside Mr. Welborn before the hearing began, he leaned over to ask me what I felt was a rhetorical question, “Is this a repetitive trauma injury or a work-related injury? “I was floored because he has been sitting (this is all he has done, sat on this case for over 2 years), and he didn’t have a clue about the details of my injury. As a reminder, this question was asked the day of the hearing. I felt that during the hearing, he basically hung me out to dry. He only mentioned vital information but refused to submit it into evidence. The Commissioner ruled against me, and I asked Mr. Welborn about appealing the decision. As always, he responded negatively, “Well, that would be uphill.” For him, most likely, as this whole case seemed like a challenge for him. He should have never taken my case if he wasn’t going to pursue it 100%. Moreover, I had considered the possible loss and released him as my attorney. To my surprise, (really it shouldn’t have been because this guy was full of surprises and loopholes) I was later contacted by the SC Workers’ Compensation Commission informing me about an appeal hearing?!! He never told me that he was still appealing the decision. There had been miscommunication; and to my understanding, everything was dropped. I would encourage you to look elsewhere before considering this firm to take on your case.
I would absolutely recommend Mr. Harbin to anyone. He is a very knowledgeable, honest man who works hard for the right things. He never missed a beat with my injury case and would not settle until he knew it would be worth it. He explained everything throughout this process in a way that I would understand, considering I am still young & this being my first time going through something like this. I am very thankful to have had him represent me!
