Not a good experience at all. . I’m sure they will respond with the arrogance and belligerence they demonstrated to me on the phone, as I kept my cool attempting to ask a simple question. My wife and I decided to change our businesses from sole proprietorships to S-Corps. So we hired them to do our business returns. That went ok. I found Forbes to have an annoyed and arrogant attitude, which I would too if I stared at numbers all day. Things were done without asking us the proper questions – like preparing a personal tax return without even asking us if we have any investments, etc. he claims that he asked “is this everything?” But he did NOT actually ask that question. Personal returns are due a month after the corporation’s. So theee would have been time for me to email over those several documents. He’s fast, but too fast. I hope he learns to help guide his clients through the process rather than expecting that everything has been communicated before preemptively preparing a return that is inaccurate. But that’s not the main problem. Because when I called to ask a question about the business return that was not lining up with my tax software, they were ANGRY with me and blamed me for calling and asking clarifying questions. I’m sorry, that’s just not how business-to-business interactions go, in my experience. If I hire a business to help me with my business, it should feel like we are tackling a project together, not competing.
This was by far our worst experience getting our taxes done. Unfortunately, I can’t get into details here but.. We asked Forbes specifically about something that had to do with how to account for healthcare costs. He gave us advice that literally cost us. Infuriating.
We’ve used this firm for four years – business and personal tax returns, and they do an awesome job at a very fair price. They are knowledgeable and up-to-date with all the latest tax code, deductions, etc. They have saved us a lot of time and money. Very thankful for Jonasson & Co!
