Russell Washington is a Rock Star.
In May of 2024 I got arrested for resisting and public intox. I was tased twice while I was on the ground with my hands behind my back. The cops use excessive force and we’re power tripping because I was simply drunk, being loud and having a good time with some friends at the lake. The incident was on body camera and the body camera would clearly show me not resisting arrest and me on the ground. With my hands behind my back. I decided to use Russell Washington in my case because I had used him about 15 16 years ago when he practiced in Guthrie as a juvenile for some minor stuff. I called and had a conversation with Mr. Washington about my case. I clearly stated to him the facts in that it was on body camera that I did not resist arrest. After my initial conversation with Mr. Washington, I felt confident that my case would be dismissed or at least the resisting part dropped. This was not the case. After several months of going to court, Mr. Washington showed up to each court date late. Mr. Washington had stated to me that the judge was really pissed off with me and wanted me to spend 5 days in jail. This would also mean that I would have a misdemeanor resisting arrest on my record. I found it weird that the judge would be so upset with me if he had seen the body camera footage showing me clearly not resisting arrest. In my mind. Mr. Washington had requested the video and submitted it to the court. However, I found this not to be the case. Mr. Washington stated that he had not requested the video nor seen it nor had the judge seen it, which means that the judge was going off of what the police had written in the report and not the video evidence. This would be crucial in getting the resisting arrest dropped on my case which did not happen due to Mr. Washington’s lack of attention to detail or just pure laziness. In a case with plenty of video evidence in a charge that should have been dropped. Mr. Washington got me a a one-year deferred sentence which in turn has taken my gun rights and got me into debt with the courts. Mr. Washington still expects to collect the remaining of his $2,500 for the job that he did not properly represent me. I feel Mr. Washington made my court case the lowest priority on his list. I had a 2-hour drive to court every court date and somehow made it on time and had my ducks in a row. However, Mr. Washington showed up late and seemed to advocate very little for me while I watched other defendants ahead of me with lawyers who were advocating for much more serious cases, getting much more reasonable deals than what I got for such a less charge. I feel had Mr. Washington done his job properly and listened to me during the consultation and requested the body camera footage from that night. He would have seen that I was on my knees on the ground with my hands behind my back when the officers walked up behind me and tased me in the back of my leg and in my back twice. I also had three witnesses standing by that could contest to this. I would not recommend using Russell Washington. He will be late and he will not execute his duties to the fullest extent.
