My spouse called Ms. Head today in order to get legal assistance/advice on creating an estate on behalf of our son who was killed by a drunk driver. My husband explained the circumstances of the situation which require a NC lawyer’s assistance (we don’t live in NC, but our son lived and was killed in NC). After he explained the situation (which was very difficult because of the pain involved with all of this), she rudely replied, “I’m not willing to do that” and hung up the phone. We have no issue with Ms. Head not being able to assist us, but as a professional and simply as a human being I expect better behavior and a little compassion wouldn’t hurt. She could have simply said in a polite and professional manner, “I’m unable to assist you because of…” and perhaps shared recommendations on how to get the estate established.
