I called Mr Tew regarding a breach of contract matter. I’d already won the small claims court case and the defendant was appealing so it was moving to district court. I was looking for someone who would either represent me and/or answer a few questions about the difference between small claims court and district court. Mr Tew would not even answer any general questions about anything. I was not asking for legal advice, I wanted to know basic things like if there was a form to fill out for district court, or a deadline for discovery to be filed. I had spoken to several other law firms who had been very helpful in answering non-specific questions and referring me to firms that could better help me. (He was not one anyone recommended.) I was very understanding that he wouldn’t give any legal advice, no lawyer will without a retainer, but that he wouldn’t answer any basic questions was shocking. I wouldn’t call him again for any reason. That’s just poor customer service.
