My dad has been my priority for a long time. My mom died when I was 19 and ever since I’ve been a bit protective of him. That being said, his grief thrust him into a position of “stasis”, if you will. He never made any more plans for the future, or contingencies for if something happened (despite encouragement from my brother and myself). Well, something happened, and it was time for him to be in an assisted living facility. The facility we chose was perfect. It was 10 minutes away from my house and super clean, and the staff visibly cared immensely. Their finance team explained to me that in order for him to qualify for Medicaid (which we would eventually need as it was a tad pricey), we would need to sell my father’s house, and then use all of the proceeds of the sale for his care before Medicaid would be an option. We never batted an eye, we wanted him to be in the best care. In the midst of attempting to sell, we were directed to DuBois Law Group. Ashlynne, Austin and Nicole are some of the kindest, most approachable people I have ever met. They have answered approximately 23948320 phone calls and questions from my brother and I. When we explained to them what we were told, they were a bit annoyed (that is putting it mildly) as they had heard this story before from tons of other clients about how senior care homes take advantage of anxious families who don’t know the rules/regulations and are depending on their experience for guidance. I would be lost without them. I come in there like a nervous whirlwind sometimes and they are NEVER rude, or anything but kind, professional, and knowledgeable.
