Whatever you do, do not hire these crooks. Before hiring someone you should do a strenuous background check on them and make sure they’re qualified to perform the job. Maybe that’s my fault in a ways as this firm had no prior review when I hire them. In November 2020 I walked into the office and spoke with one of the associates, I had a roommate who I was trying to evict for non-payment. Because of the moratorium, I was unable to evict them faster. I was going to take the legal route and hire ‘competent’ lawyers that were more experienced in these types of things or so I thought. Fast forward to March 2022 and I was notified by another lawyer that’s helping me fight an eviction case against me by my landlord. Turns out there was a court date in February 2022 for the roommate and “Mark H Cohen and associates” decided to discontinue the case, the reason being…
Totally unprofessional, my wifes previous landlord hired these crooks. She did everything she was supposed to, to relinquish her apartment. Fast forward 6 months and she was served papers to go to court for the past 6 months that she was moved out. At court they kept her waiting there from 8am to 4pm, it was so long the judge stepped down from his chair and went around the court house looking for the lawyer. Once the lawyer came to talk to the judge, a PARALEGAL confronted my wife attempting to strong arm her into paying the rent she was not responsible for. Judge asked for something form the lawyer he stepped out to get it AND NEVER CAME BACK. He realized he was going to lose, so he left, the judge dismissed the case and he attempted to come after me for the rent AGAIN. Then they kept “serving me papers” at the apartment they’re responsible for, yeah, the one she moved out of MONTHS ago. They’re crooks and if you’re a landlord looking to hire them, this story should show just how unprofessional, crooked, unprepared these people are.
This is my second eviction with Mark Cohen and Associates and I will NEVER use them again. They’re incompetent, they’re never prepared for court and basically only call me with questions when they are already in front of the Judge. So unprofessional! There should be no reason why a holdover case takes more than 3 months, we’re going on 5 months not including the required 60 day notice. The only time I get results is if I show up to court which totally defeats the purpose of hiring a lawyer. I’m seriously considering moving my case to another firm. I cannot work with a firm that doesn’t return calls. PLEASE DON’T USE if you’re looking for results!
