Got 2 out of my 3 charges dropped. I’d use him again if I had to but I no longer even jaywalk so I don’t plan on getting arrested anytime soon. Back when this went on, I was living a much different lifestyle n probably deserved much more then I got but I’m thankful I had a very solid Attorney in Leonard.
I’m only giving 2 stars because the secretary, Jaime, was really nice and seemed more knowledgeable of the law than the attorney that showed up to my preliminary hearing. I was charged with agg assault and a few other felony charges for a fight on my street where I was assaulted first and merely defended myself. When I explained my case they made everything sound promising and told me I needed to hire one of the investigators they use to get witness statements because if the atty did it would seem bias. I’m not a person that’s in and out of court nor am I used to having charges pressed against me so it sounded legit. The day of my preliminary hearing, which was 2 months after retaining this office, the investigator Richard Strohm still hadn’t done any investigating. The attorney I believe his name was Cockoran or Corcoran (last name) didn’t seem confident at all he was shaking and kept repeating the same questions in different forms until the judge finally got frustrated and cut him off. The judge told him he already knows what the witness is going 2 say because she’d answered the question several times already. He tried to get the charges dropped or reduced by stating it was a mutual fight although he never said anything 2 prove that it was a mutual fight. The complainant was the only person to speak at the prelim so by her account of the events she was attacked unprovoked, which was a bold faced lie but because the attorney didn’t say anything to disprove her statements the judge had no choice but the believe it. I have since hired a new attorney to represent me going forward, one who has experience and confidence. I was also told by my new attorney that I don’t need an investigator because what he’s supposed to do is what they do themselves. The investigator has yet to speak to any of my witnesses and I’m due for court tomorrow. This office was a complete waste of time and money. I’m very disappointed!
