Deb is a knowledgeable, passionate, and collaborative employee ownership attorney who I would highly recommend. She was instrumental in helping us setup our Employee Ownership program.
Deborah provided exceptional service as she guided us through the process of transitioning our company to an employee-owned cooperative. Further, she delivered beyond our expectations under a heavy time constraint with exemplary professionalism and always made her expertise available to us throughout the entire process. We at MET Co-op highly recommend her services.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Deb in her capacity as a volunteer advisor to a project focused on supporting the development of six unionized worker-owned cannabis dispensaries in Rhode Island. For about two years, Deb has contributed to this work with extremely valuable and unique expertise, bringing resources and knowledge to the table that helped propel the project forward, and strategizing at a high-level about how to organize an ecosystem of multiple organizations in pursuit of our goal. She’s motivated primarily (from what I can tell) by a deep desire to build more democratic and cooperative economies in this country. Specifically, Deb has helped convene a coalition of business advisors and cooperative experts; educate cooperative founders about the legal structure of co-ops and how to protect members’ rights on paper and in practice; and incorporate a 501c3 nonprofit to deliver union cooperative training and assistance at scale (Co-op Rhody). We currently serve together on the Board of Co-op Rhody. I can attest enthusiastically to Deb’s deep knowledge of cooperative law, ability to work with folks from all walks of life, and great tenacity in achieving a goal she’s committed to.
