I spoke with five or six other attorneys before I met with Donna Smith. I feel her knowledge and expertise in Family law was more than others i met with. She handled a very difficult time for us professionally and quickly. I couldn’t be more grateful.
Rude and unprofessional
We hired Donna in April of ’20 for my husband and his son’s case with a 3k retainer. She didn’t even file anything until 3 months later in July of ’20. Court wasn’t until Dec of ’20 I believe (covid hit this year, so I don’t blame her for the delayed court date, but she is at fault for taking 3 months to even get it started) The court date was pushed back for whatever reason and claims were made in May of ’21. During the delays, she never stayed in contact with us. We would constantly call for updates and we were always told “she’ll call you back”. For months we were told “she’ll call back” and never got a call. Then, we found out what claims were made and were trying to figure out the next step and she STILL wouldn’t give us the time of day! We even scheduled TWO zoom meetings with her and BOTH times she never called us!!!! The first time, we were told she had an “emergency” come up, and the second Naomi told us “shes trying right now but its not working” then Donna tried to say later she was “in trial”. I knew attorneys lied but good Lord. After her not calling both times, my husband had enough and fired her! Once we told her her services (or lack thereof) were no longer needed, we asked for the remainder of the retainer be returned to us. Naomi who always answers the phone would always respond saying “Donna is the one who handles the money so she’ll have to call you back”. And guess what? Over a year later and STILL no returned phone call and she still didn’t give us the remaining money back! Save your money and time for an attorney who actually cares! And if you do make the mistake of hiring her, don’t get rid of her or she’ll steal your money!!! SORRY excuse for an attorney. I wish it was possible to give negative stars. HORRIBLE!
