I hired Dave for a simple task of responding to a child support/custody petition. I thought he’d be a caring individual who had years of experience that would be able to help me. I gave him $1300 upfront…he had weeks to prepare the response and I provided him all the information needed. The other partys attorney refused to allow an extension previously. I had to continuously remind him that the due date was coming, asking him if he thought he could respond. He said I think so. Well the day came that it was due…I didn’t hear from him….if I wasnt being proactive time would of just passed there would of just been a default and he never would of told me himself that he was just going to choose not to respond….I contacted the other partys attorney telling them that I would no longer be having Dave as my attorney because I had no faith that he could competently do what I hired him to do. Dave also in professional emails to the other partys attorney messed up my last name multiple times not just the spelling but calling me a completely different name……He never apoligized for any of this not once………..I asked him about returning the retainer to me…he said he would that he’d figure out how much time I “used up”…which honestly I never spent more than 2 hours talking to him…and he did absolutely nothing for me….He said he would send me a check the first of August….He didn’t even ask for my address….I believe his intent was to scam me the whole time….He never did send me a check….and now will not give me a response when I contact him…Why he chose to do this to me….and my young children after meeting us all….and hearing our story I don’t know….
