Had a criminal conviction and had spoken to him for two months over the phone before he finally agreed to a meeting less than a week before my court date . Through family I get a benefit of lawyers provided and he waited until last minute to tell me criminal charges weren’t covered under the plan when I had initially told him two months back , he proceeds to tell me that my court date (which I had told him several times about) was too quick and out of his way and pushed me aside unless I paid an upfront 1500$ to him in cash, I am 19 and this was my first ever offense with very limited financial resources or support . He wasn’t willing to do a payment plan or even a 500$ down payment. So I was ultimately screwed over, especially on a federal holiday weekend. Went to court a few days later with no legal representation. Gave me a little advice on what to do but ultimately pushed me aside in the end. As someone very young I felt jaded.
