Very helpful
Hired Greg for my mom’s estate (2022) and was very clear with him that I was out of state and didn’t know DE law. Greg didn’t tell me at any meeting that our mom’s house transferred to us the day of her death and with this, could be sold immediately under our names. This delayed the house being put on this market and then the buyer’s attorney gave us this basic information and then all the paperwork and signatures had to be redone and value on the home went down btwn April ‘22 and Aug ‘22. Greg’s “assistant” was on maternity level as he told me each time I met with him and maybe due to this, my Rep letter had my name incomplete, wrong. Greg claimed the Rep letter was in the mail 2 times (it never arrived) before I stopped in to get it to discover the incorrect name which delayed it further. Took 8 weeks to get this letter. Greg would schedule meetings that were unnecessary and at least once had the wrong date which would cause me 5+ hours of driving. Greg failed to tell us our step-father’s mortgage would be under Sch C not Sch A because title had transferred and would be reported on Sch C and 2% paid to DE. Not giving me this basic information meant that the money being gifted to our step-sisters had to be adjusted for the 2% that needed to be held for DE. At every turn, mistakes were made and discovered often months later by me or the buyer’s attorney for which we paid Greg $4,000. Due to all these mistakes, there are more but I’ll leave it there, we didn’t trust Greg. Greg was also a gossip and would spend 95% of our meetings gossiping instead of giving us needed information. We should have found a new lawyer due to his incompetence but only the closing was left. Greg withdrew at this point because he wouldn’t answer any of our questions about closing support. For example, was the bank statement sufficient support for the ACH monthly car payment? He then wouldn’t withdraw legally from DE so our new lawyer could close. Even though he was paid in full for not doing his job, it took 3-4 months for him to withdraw legally. I have support for all of the above plus more. I would not recommend Greg.
The gentleman that answered the phone was short and rude. I briefly explained a situation and asked do his firm handle civil cases and he said they do and gave me the rate. The way he handled the call was very unprofessional. I feel if you can’t handle a potential client over the phone professionally, I personally wouldn’t allow someone like this to handle my important case
