When you make an appointment with Dr. Helm, they don’t tell you that you are actually seeing a Physician’s Assistant with a bad attitude. Dr. Helm is ALWAYS “out of town”. His PA misdiagnosed me twice, to the tune of about $300.00. I expressed my unhappiness about not being told my appointment was with her and not Dr. Helm, and she told me I MUST HAVE been told because that is “their policy”. When I insisted that I had never been told unless I remembered to ask, she actually raised her voice to talk over me, “We tell everybody! THAT’S our policy!” One of my friends goes to Texas for eye care and two others go to Denver because of Dr. Helm having his PA run his practice. I should have listened to them. When I checked out, I asked for a copy of my bill to see the itemized charges and was told that the bookkeeper was out and all I could get was a receipt. REALLY????? She said she would mail me a copy of my bill later. Gee thanks. If you need to see a MEDICAL DOCTOR for eye care, leave town. If you need a routine eye exam, go to any experienced local optometrist; you’ll probably get less expensive, better care.
Both my wife and her brother have had cataract surgery from the Helm Eye Center. They both had very good experiences. I had my evaluation appointment last Thursday. I was quite pleased with the staff, including the receptionist, technician and Dr Helm. They eased my concerns over the whole process. I’m looking forward to having clearer vision again. They accept Medicare.
The staff is caring and on top of their game. You will not find a finer opthamologist than Dr. Helm. I trust his expertise and knowledge.
