Pueblo County District Attorney Erik Walser has faced significant criticism from victims regarding his handling of cases, particularly those involving domestic violence, with many asserting that he prioritizes the rights of offenders over victims. Despite the negative feedback, some individuals, like Denise, have been praised for their supportive roles within the office, highlighting the importance of compassionate assistance during difficult legal processes. Overall, while there are concerns about the effectiveness of the DA’s office, there are also voices advocating for a more positive experience through dedicated staff members who strive to help victims navigate the justice system.
DA Erik Walser shouldn’t have his job! I am the victim of DV and waited 8 months for the plea and sentencing only to receive a call the day before by Erik Walser that he was going to drop all charges againg the offender! I made it know I did not agree nor was I informed this was the avanue he was choosing without my knowledge or input. I believe he is incompetent and lazy and just doesn’t have it in him to fight for the rights of victims. He was more concerned with the offenders “rights”. He also blamed that it took 8 months on a previous DA who is no longer with the Pueblo DA’s office and said this previous DA was known for accepting charges on offenders without proper evidence. Really?? What a cop out!! Erik Walser has no accountability so how could I expect he hold the offender to having any. Complete failure to the justice system that victims seek and should be protected by! I stood up and showed up against my offender for 8 months…Erik Walser folded after one meet up with the defendants court appointed attorney. Claiming “not enough evidence for trial”. That’s not his job!! that’s for the Jury to decide with a fair trial. I have multiple witnesses, the deputies that showed up at the occurrence and even the offenders own mother’s report to the deputies confirmed my side. To me that speaks volumes to Erik Walser’s lack of respect and support of victims. Vote this failure out of his elected position!! Get someone who will fight for the rights of the most vulnerable. Also Erik told me victims show up if they choose, they have no real influence on the decision to charge and prosecute a defendant….what!?? No wonder statistically, victims don’t show up. They’re already being dismissed before being heard…
The district attorney and there office are just another office full of corruption and coverups
This is the worst justice system in Colorado. I lost all hope of Justice when Dolores Johnson bit my ear off and wasn’t given any jail time because she was female. No justice served in Pueblo Colorado. William Finkelstein didn’t do anything as a DA to bring justice he didn’t even want to talk to me as a victim.
