Bruce Cozart is an attorney who in my opinion cares more about money than his client. I hired Bruce Cozart as my divorce attorney in 2017 and 2018. I found out after my divorce had been settled that his High school aged son had been dating the daughter of a SWAT Sergeant. There are only two sergeants for the SWAT team in San Diego. My former husband had been the other one. This is a clear conflict of interest. Mr. Cozart did not act in my best interest on numerous occasions. For example, he did not read documents which I gave him that later turned out to be material. I would have saved thousands of dollars and different decisions would have been made in the process of my case had he read those documents. Additionally, on the day of my Mediation, Mr. Cozart encouraged me to sign the MSA stating that I would never have to pay another dime in attorney fees. He said this in front of the retired judge that had been hired to assist in the mediation. He continued to bill me another $6-7K after the mediation which he reluctantly reduced by $5000 after I contacted the retired judge regarding the situation. In my opinion, Mr. Kozart, drew out my case longer than it should have been, ultimately mediated an unfair agreement without properly explaining it to me, applied pressure for me to sign the MSA, and did not act in the best interest of his client. I do not recommend Mr. Cozart.
I had a client who went through a divorce and custody battle whose ex-husband used Bruce Cozart!! You read that correctly, my client at the time highly recommended Bruce to me, not her attorney but her ex-husband’s attorney. I met with him and I had decided to go with another attorney, a “nice” attorney, perhaps well respected, but nope it didn’t work for me. I quickly learned nice doesn’t give you the justice you’re looking for. I was already “nice”, I needed someone not only intelligent about the law, but who was superior beyond the scope of the law, who can strategically layout the foundation to conquer from the beginning what rightfully is deserving for my family. I have already personally recommended him and that party could not be happier. I highly recommend attorney Bruce Cozart. Nothing about family law is a pleasant experience nor is it quick, but if you want an excellence in performance from your attorney…Hire him!
