What the residents of Lake Havasu and Mohave County have here is nothing more than a monopoly on our ability to defend ourselves against baseless charges . Awarded a contract of $300,000 annually to represent defendants in court as their Public Defender, this firm doesn’t uphold their duties to properly represent our residents. Lazy and unprofessional is an understatement. We must push for change and remove this firms monopoly on our criminal justice system. Understand , per their contract with OUR CITY, they must remove themselves from any CIVIL action brought against the city to avoid the perception of conflict of interest. They also control all ability to Sub Contract their services. Of the 300,000 they were awarded in tax payer money , they allocated $42,000 to actually fight our cases , which breaks down to $116.66 daily. We can and will do better for the residents of Lake Havasu.
