My niece was involved in a hit and run in November 2017. The driver hit her with his car in downtown Auburn and just kept going. Luckily, there were witnesses who provided the Auburn Police Department with his tag number. Detective Will Turner was in charge of the incident. Mr. Turner spoke with the individual and decided not to press any charges. I contacted D.A.Brandon Hughes about the incident. Mr. Hughes spoke with Detective Turner , and Mr. Hughes decided to put the case be for a grand jury. Today is August 20, 2018, and my niece hasn’t heard a word from the DA or detective. I believe its Alabama Law Code 32 that states, when an individual leaves the scene of a hit a run, he has broken the law.
