I had worked with this firm in the past and was very satisfied with the level of assistance and knowledge. However, I called at the end of Jan 2021 to schedule a consult for my in-laws who need some direction as to whether they might need a bankruptcy due to foreclosure of their home. I spoke to the paralegal who stated they were taking on new clients and was sent to a voicemail. I left a message and after a few days of no call back, I called again and left another voicemail. I finally heard back from Stacy and explained the situation. She gave me an appointment for end of Feb 2021, about 3 weeks later. She also stated that the consult wouldn’t be free but a $295 fee because they may be doing work already that day. I agreed since we actually didn’t know what would be necessary or what would be done that day. Then as I’m headed out to work, I get a call from Stacy, the day before our appointment, stating she has decided she’s not accepting clients or doing any more bankruptcies, but she could refer another attorney. To say I was stunned is an understatement. My in-laws have been through so much and have so many medical issues, that this was like a slap in the face. On top of it the referral is in Joliet over 30 mins from where we were planning. I find this to be very unprofessional and am surprised to have been treated this way. We are now searching for a new attorney that we feel comfortable with, which is no easy task on such short notice. We won’t be using this firm for anything in the future, we won’t be referring anyone to this firm, and I’m truly sorry I wasted my time in the first place.
