Horrible experience with classic bait and switch. John, a “legal assistant” who works from home, set me up for a scheduled phone call with attorney Vanessa DeNiro. I had questions about a real estate purchase agreement and he assured me Vanessa would be able to answer them. John informed me everyone at the firm works from home, and he had me pay a $150 fee online for a 30-minute time slot in advance of the phone call. At his request I forwarded my questions and the real estate purchase agreement to him for Vanessa to review prior to the call. Then on the day of the scheduled call to my surprise he informed me I would be speaking with someone named Kate, instead of Vanessa. When I spoke with Kate she was unable to answer any of my questions, and during the 10-minute call she admitted she was a litigation attorney and not well-versed in the law. Instead, she suggested I retain their firm and pay more to have my questions answered. I told Kate I was not happy with her service and that John had promised my questions would be answered during the call. After the call, I expressed my displeasure to John via email requesting a refund of my $150. He replied that he forwarded my email to the executive committee. That was one month ago, and I’ve since heard nothing. Beware folks.
