I would give ZERO starts if I could! DO NOT HIRE THIS PERSON!!! He reminds me of a slumlord I rented from years ago. Never fixed anything, never called back, if I tracked him he was rude and standoff’ish…just like Steven Barnette! He won’t call you back and he doesn’t care, don’t waste your time and money on this guy!

Mr, Barnette first represented me in a car accident stopped at a stoplight in 2014. He refused to sue the individual, told me it was in my best interest not to. In 2023 he represented me, court appointed, and did not do anything on my behalf in a case where I, a disabled, single woman, fired a shot through my own front door. At court, he failed to say that I was disabled and scheduled for surgery next month to be cut from my shoulders down. He put his hand up, as if to say “shut up” when I tried to speak, and I was given 50 hrs community service as well as my only form of defense taken away from a single female, never charged before. I now live in fear of every noise at night and will be terrified to call the Gloucester County Sheriff’s office due to their gross negligence

This firm represents children in JDR and has performed poorly. Unresponsive, unsympathetic to the children they represent or to the parents. The cities of Hampton Road need to reevaluate their relationship with this firm. Will be making contact with the bar association pending non response to this review. Colluded with opposing lawyer, withdrew from case without notification. Had to pay the court money due to Steven’s corrupt behaviour.
