ERNIE L. MIXON, Esquire, graduated from the University of South Carolina undergraduate in 1974 and the University of South Carolina Law School in 1977. While waiting for the results from S.C. Bar exam he worked as an underwriter with Seibels Bruce Insurance Company in Columbia, South Carolina. After receiving his results, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1978, as part of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG). He was stationed at NAS JAX in Jacksonville, Florida for two years as a Defense Counsel and as a Prosecutor. He re-enlisted for an additional three years and was assigned the position of Base Legal Officer at NAS Cecil Field, also in Jacksonville, Florida, where he earned the Navy Achievement medal and the rank of Lieutenant Commander. In 1983, he voluntarily ended his military career and moved back to South Carolina and opened his first law office in St. Stephen. In 1985, he opened his second office in Moncks Corner, SC. In 1986, Georgia Shobe joined his Moncks Corner office staff as an associate and the office name was later changed to Mixon & Shobe, Attorneys at Law. Mr. Mixon has also served as the Municipal Judge for the City of Moncks Corner. He is married to the former Barbara Mozingo and is the father of two sets of twin boys, Dustin, David, Robert and Richard Mixon. In May of 2007 Georgia Shobe left the firm on good terms in order to start her own general practice law firm. Ernie has proudly been serving his friends and neighbors here in the Lowcountry for 20 years.
