I had my trial yesterday because I was accused of second degree domestic violence unfairly and Raquel Smith went all out! I was nervous throughout the whole time, but the moment we went in front of the judge, she was ready with all the evidence needed and the moment she starting speaking to the judge, I felt so relieved! I received a notice in the mail of a person filing a crime against me. There also were approximately 10 envelopes with Attorney at Law information to contact them for legal help. Upon looking through each envelope, I saw one envelope with Barry Helfand, Attorneys At Law. I immediately took a deep breathe of relief. I was injured (roadside) and received a low-ball offer from the insurance company. They’ve promised $X plus medical expenses via E Mail & phone conversations. I was ready to accept their offer, alas the document they wanted me to sign stated that the medical expenses would come out of my pocket. I was unable to get them to resolve this discrepancy. A decade earlier, I crossed paths with Mr. Barry Helfand – I was a juror in a trial and he was the defense attorney. We, the jurors, convicted the defendant. Two months later, Mr. Helfand got her off the hook. Having this experience, I’ve contacted Mr. Helfand’s office and my case was assigned to Mr. David Helfand. He explained the process and offered me the option of a quick settlement vs a longer one with a higher payout. I chose the latter. The insurance company ended up paying 5 times as much as they offered me! The entire process was very simple, mostly via phone calls and E Mails. I actually met Mr. Helfand, although that was because I happened to be at the same building where his office is located – accessible also by public transit, which is another plus. Highly recommended – I’ll use this law office again if the need arises.
