The SS system is broken and having an attorney doesn’t always help your case. At the time of working with Donaldson & Westin I was going thru cancer treatment and had a year more to go when my disability claim was denied. They said I had a case since my active treatment would be longer than 13 months. But now that my treatment is over and I am desperate to have an income, I said I was going to return to work (now that my active treatment is over). This is apparently called a closed period and not something they usually do. Or at least after reviewing my case, they weren’t interested in moving forward. They never filled out any paperwork for me, and when paperwork was sent or info was requested for me, they never reached out to any of my doctors… even tho I had given full consent. Maybe I just don’t know enough about SS but it all seemed like a waste of everyone’s time.
