Frequently Asked Questions

Is a will sufficient for estate planning in Florida?

A will ensures your wishes are documented, but it does not avoid probate — Florida’s court-supervised process for validating wills and distributing assets. Probate can take six months to two years and involves court fees and public records. Many Florida residents supplement a will with a revocable living trust, which allows assets to pass directly to beneficiaries outside of probate. An attorney can evaluate whether a trust is appropriate for your specific estate and family situation.

What is Florida’s homestead exemption and how does it affect estate planning?

Florida’s homestead law provides strong protections for a primary residence against creditor claims during life and restricts how homestead property can be devised at death. If you have a spouse or minor children, homestead property cannot be freely transferred by will to others — specific rules govern who inherits. Proper estate planning accounts for Florida homestead rules to avoid unintended outcomes for your family.

Do I need a lawyer to make a will in Florida?

Florida law does not require an attorney to draft a will, but a will that does not meet Florida’s statutory requirements — proper signing, witnessing, and notarization — may be invalid and admitted to probate without effect. Online templates may not account for Florida-specific rules including homestead, elective share rights of spouses, and pour-over provisions that coordinate with trusts. Professional preparation protects the document’s validity and your family’s interests.

I have have a very good experiance with is law firm. Kim has handle all my property and home closings very well. Im very pleased. Just wish she would do my Texas ones too. Thanks Kim for all your help.

Went there for small problem was

Kim was very professional in the closing on my customer’s home.

I cannot speak on the attorneys directly as I never got that far. I made an appointment at day/time they chose. I showed up on time and was told my attorney would be right me. 25 mins later no one came or said anything. I asked the receptionist if there was a better time and I used my lunch to come. I provided alternates for when I would be able to come either after work at 430 or any other day. 2 days later still have not heard from anyone. Obviously they do not have any concern on their clients and do not need new ones. If they were unable to make our appointment a phone call would have been courteous so I did not waste my time. Beware

Adam’s and Adam’s law firm of Bushnell FL helped my grandparents and I several times over the past couple of years to set up and ensure that their estate was prepared to be passed on according to their wishes.

Very disappointed in the service that’s was promised, sat on for 10 months and then after a couple months of no returned calls only one call and a return of the retainer.

Micah Adams is a delight. I contacted their office for some estate planning and our meeting was informative and pleasant. She assisted with my decision making and had the documents in a timely fashion. Prices were reasonable, as well.

Had a very good experience with his firm. Micah was very informative and answered all my questions and was a pleasure to deal with. Will use them again for sure if needed thank you.

They have done a lot for our family over the years. Will continue, even with passing of the reins to his daughter.

He is excellent!!

I’ve had experience with both attorneys at this firm. Both Felix Adams and Micah Adams are wonderful. They are trustworthy, down to earth, and their fees are reasonable. We will definitely use them again!

Felix answered my questions, very friendly, very professional
